昨天下課了之後就匆匆趕回家.因為Comcast的人要來弄cable跟Internet
反正自始至終我都不是很清楚整個流程.也不曉得我們究竟有哪些equipment在手邊
簡而言之就是搞到最後cable好了但Internet沒著落
然後二房東回來之後我就只好認命地開始想把Internet弄起來
陰錯陽差我們竟然聊起天來
大我5歲的他一直以為他自己是屬虎的.搞了半天才在我的解答以及google的佐證之下相信他其實是屬兔的
一直以來我們沒什麼交談原來是因為他以為我只有20出頭歲...哈~
他的人生經歷還真是豐富哩~
在以色列說希伯來文長大.當了幾年兵之後花了一年去環遊世界
高中亂唸一通的他.在這趟旅途中發覺能用英文跟別人溝通真是太棒了.才發現英文的好
因為對法國文化以及葡萄酒的喜愛.他到法國去唸了個碩士
從完全不懂法文到上100%以法文授課的學校拿學位.現在的他講電話的時候溜得不得了(雖然我都聽不懂...從頭到尾只聽得懂Ciao~)
後來他到澳洲的酒莊去工作.接著又以intern的身份到SF來.最後就找到現在這個葡萄酒供應商的工作.一待就是4年
他對這個行業很是熱愛.但他覺得是時候往高一層的地方發展了
但這些其實都跟我的title沒有直接的關係...
總之Internet最後弄到快半夜再加上求助我姐夫Howard以及Annie都還是沒搞好.只好放棄然後悻悻然地去睡覺
昨天凌晨喉嚨的左邊一直到耳朵那一帶把我痛醒.今天凌晨換右邉同個地方把我痛醒
兩天我都很哀怨地在半夜2.3點起床找出鄭醫生給我的藥吃.再泡一杯Vitamin C喝
今天起床之後早餐也沒吃就抓起電話趕快打到Comcast的客服中心求救
總之在我使用很破爛的英文以及小姐不厭其煩地等待以及解說之下.最後問題解決了50%(而且答案很鳥...我其實自己可以解決的...FxxK!!!)
辛苦的原因有二:...
一是因為我對technology實在是不通.所以問的都是白痴問題
二是因為每當小姐要我跟她說我在畫面上看到什麼的時候.我都得在很短暫的時間之內做出翻譯;再不然就是她說了一個字.明明我們就看同一個視窗.我得找出那個字中文是怎麼翻譯的
另外的50%我不知道該怎麼辦.因為是wireless router的問題
我用了好心的Comcast小姐給的Netgear電話打客服專線
幫我解答的customer service也不是native speaker.聽起來像是印度還是哪裡的.又說得無敵快速(大概是我說話的2倍).我整個人快炸開來
然後他又超級pushy.短短幾分鐘之內一連追問了我好幾次我究竟要買哪個方案(大概他座位前貼了一張紙要求他們要想盡辦法讓客戶掏出credit card付錢吧?!)
真是怪了...明明我就說我們有5個室友我不能自己做決定啊...何苦這樣相逼呢?!
而且買了個router不就是能用forever嗎?!又跟我說什麼warranty怎樣怎樣的...搞得我一頭霧水
果然啊果然...phone conversation的難度大大地提昇完全是因為不是face to face啊~
帶有世界各國地方色彩的英文果然是要很費心才能完全領悟的啊!!!
所以囉...結論就是...英文要好好學!(好爛的ending喔~)

  • 現在我在24K...

上一次在24K奮戰應該是大一修線代的時候吧?!
因為家裡現在還是沒有網路的關係.我這一陣子都來圖書館
上個週末發現了這個好地方.所以連續3天我都在這裡耗著-_-
今天坐的位置絕佳.有插座也有view
你們能相信現在SF只有攝氏9度嗎?!
我從今天開始了一個新習慣.那就是讀San Francisco Chronicle
第一個學期到CCSF downtown campus做SHINE的coach時留下來的報紙積了一堆
我開始找尋有趣的文章跟圖片.還有適合教學的素材
我一直都沒有說我現在室友的事...ok...
我的二房東(其實我一直強烈懷疑他就是大房東)是個來自以色列的葡萄酒商
大半的時間他都不在家.有的時候一大早才會回來(於是乎我又開始懷疑他是軍火販子之類的...)
週末的時候他的女朋友會來住個一兩晚
酒商很愛自己煮東西.然後因為他的工作.我們整個家裡堆滿了葡萄酒
他掃廚房的時候會把整個爐面清理得"非常"乾淨
暑假沒人在了他也把整個冰箱給清空(我的12顆雞蛋啊~)
不過有一點我非常地不能認同...
話說我回台灣之前打算把衣服洗一洗.沒想到一連等了4天.那堆衣服就這麼待在洗衣機裡4天
也許你們會說把它拿出來放到烘乾機不就得了?!
我擔心有些衣服不能烘.如果我這麼做然後出了什麼trouble我還得賠
偏偏又在忙期末考.大概他也沒回來所以沒得問.最後逼得我只好把一堆襪子跟貼身衣物全都帶回台灣洗
兩個星期之後我從台灣回來.不僅洗衣機裡滿是衣服.就連烘乾機都"淪陷"了
就這樣...一個星期又過了...一直到剛剛...
結論就是...從我回台灣前一個星期的衣服到我從台灣回來後一個星期.所有積起來的衣服.到了今天早上我才通通洗光光
真的是快令我抓狂!!!
第2個室友是一個華人.不過他已經是移民第3代了.粵語都不太會說了.更何況是普通話
他也讀我們學校.應該是Computer Science大四的學生(不知道是不是已經畢業了?!)
上次我在包餛飩的時候.他還熱心地過來教我他們包餛飩的方法
第3個室友是一個美國大男生.應該是唸我們學校International Relations然後要升大四
不過昨天聽酒商說他申請到交換學生.要到法國去一年了
以上兩位室友.從我搬來到現在.見面的次數分別用一隻手的手指就數得完-_-
然後就是我們樓下還住了一個人.長得像亞洲人.可是名字完全沒有亞洲人的感覺
我看到他次數也是跟上述兩位一樣.他算不算室友我也不知道
最後我要亂入.以狂吼來結束這一篇文章!!! (請非相關人士無需對號入座!!!)
我要對那些我討厭的男男女女說...Who do you think you are?! Get away from me!!! You think I care? Tell you what?! I don't give a DAMN!!!
呼...先寫到這裡...我要去唸書了!

  • The SEQUEL...

So...I got on the plane, still MISERABLE!
First of all, there was this careless guy...
When he opened the overhead compartment, one of those HUGE carryons fell...RIGHT ON MY HEAD!!! (FxxK!!!)
To make matters WORSE, one of the flight attendants came and stepped RIGHT ON MY TOES!!! (FxxK AGAIN!!!)
Anyway...The flight was rather short somehow...
After I watched the movie "The Other Boleyn Girl", we landed in SF & Jojo, Howard & FATTY Jayden came pick me up @ the airport.
Jayden couldn't take his eyes off me, probably because I looked like his mom, but with glasses, long hair & a bit FATTER! 
OR it was because I talked so loudly & in a funny way!
BTW, I have to say that Jayden is this kind of kid that is easy to be PLEASED!
He  bursts out laughing even with sounds like coughing or sneezing!
We had dinner in the famous R & G Lounge downtown SF, but it turned out just SO-SO.
When I woke up the next morning, it was already 11 o'clock.
I found out that we were no longer having Internet connection in the house & the sink in the bathroom wasn't  functioning very well!
Anyhow...I went to school to get my refund back & had lunch in the student center.
I went for grocery shopping as well...
Apple tea is going to be an important part of my diet!
On the first day of class, I curled my hair with the styler I brought from Taiwan...really AMAZING!!!

Unfortunately, I ran into my previous BITCH roommate (whose boyfriend WRONGLY accused me of stealing his stuff).
At first, she was having this big smile on her face; as soon as she saw me, her facial experssion turned into SHIT or something like that!
HAHA...very ridiculous!!! But somehow I don't care...
There are BITCHES EVERYWHERE, you know what I mean!
I tried to cook something different from the diet book every day...
Stuck with school, too!
But, if I think positively, at least I did one of my demos & it turned out better than acceptable, but not as good as outstanding!
It was Friday the 13th yesterday & I went to Japantown with Neo.

First, we had lunch in one of the Japanese restaurants. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, kid~)
And then, we walked around a little bit & his girlfriend Phoebe showed up, too.
We ended up in Old Navy (this is definitely a must-go whenever I go downtown) & I bought 3 kid's T-shirts for MYSELF!
Can you believe that I'm wearing XS?
There's only one reason for this...Kids in America are GIANT!!!
And now...sitting in the library after a HUGE breakfast @ McDonald's (I got a FREE southern style chicken sandwich...I also ordered a hash brown, a small diet coke & a fruit'n'yoghurt parfait ), I'm trying to sharing my recent life with EVERYONE of you (even THE ONE that shouldn't be knowing).
I'm starting to treasure every day I spend here in SF.
Just hope that you can also treasure each day you have, no matter where you are!

  • Late travel report

And here...I'm going to write a little about this past trip I made to Taiwan!
From the very beginning...nobody knew I was gonna go back.
OK, fine...my sister & some of my classmates here in SFSU did.
So, when I arrived at the SFO airport, I finally got the courage to call back to my dad, asking him to pick me up @ the airport 12 hours later.
He thought it was a joke, maybe it was April Fool's Day or something.
Anyhow, 12 hours later, I got to Taiwan, safe & sound, with a huge coat on. Pretty stupid, isn't it?
The next day, I went to Zhudong, visiting old students because they were to take the entrance exam to senior high school.
It was always good to have this kind of reunion; hope they were as happy to see me!
Also, I FINALLY got the cards from my students for last Christmas. Very TOUCHING, as you can imagine.
During the day, I tried so hard to stay CONSCIOUS…very MISERABLE!
The must-do for every day was reading Apple-Daily, First Weekly (the GOSSIP one) was for every week.
I went shopping twice; totally GLAD that the clerks of Clarins @ SOGO still remembered me WELL.
I also got many, MANY masks, for it’s way too DRY here in SF.
One day, Mom & I went to this sale for kid’s clothes; I tried very hard to GRAB something nice for FATTY Jayden! (Ha^)
Drove Mom to the hospital in Taipei once.
Oh, this was the main reason that I went back: Mom had this surgery around her neck for the 2nd time because of her spine problem. (The last time was in the year when 911 happened!)
Thanks for asking, but she’s getting better & better each day!
I was so good at driving though I cursed people so much that Mom suggested my talking to a doc. (She MEANT it!!!)
One week went past & more relatives knew about my going back.
In the 2nd week, mostly we were busy with our old apartment in downtown Hsinchu.
It was really, really exhausting, you’ve got to believe me!!!
And I made a terrible mistake about mailing Yvonne some stuff I got here (for her to make BANANA smoothie).
I didn’t realize that it wouldn’t take long for her to get it, so she found out my little secret & called!!! (Smart you!!!)
And then, I went back to Zhudong again…this time, a nice, long chat!!!
It shouldn’t be surprising that I didn’t stop eating during that period of time.
I ate…滷味, 蘿蔔糕, 魯肉飯, 五色豆花(以前明明就只有三色!哈~), 鴨肉麵(twice), 鹹豆漿, 鍋貼, 河粉蛋餅, 芝麻甜餅, 各式各樣的饅頭(紅糖, 芋泥, 桂圓, 芋頭, 紅豆), 11街, 御飯糰, 銅鑼燒, 雞蛋糕, 萬丹紅豆餅(twice), 肉圓(twice), 蚵仔煎, 魷魚羹, 珍珠奶茶(2個星期才喝5杯而已-_-), 鹽酥雞(twice), 紅豆牛奶剉冰, 茶碗蒸, 劉媽媽菜包, 阿婆壽司, 東南排骨, 竹山意麵(twice), 北門炸粿, 老黃牛肉麵(就是這家店的老闆以為我是啞巴~哈!), 蘋果麵包, 海綿蛋糕, 北方小館泰式酸辣麵, 榕樹下, 蛋餅夾油條...上飛機前還硬是吃了一個御便當!大概就以上而已...

  • So...20% has been done!

I've just finished my 1st week of the summer sesson!
CRAZY!!!
In this five-week session, we have to do 2 demos, 1 semiar presentation & turn in 2 observations, 2 lesson plans, 1 final paper!
Seriously...this is BRUTAL!

  • Long time no see, everyone!!!

I went back to Taiwan right after I finished Dr. Jain's term paper.
This urgent going back was due to my mom's surgery.
Thankfully, everything goes very well!
During the 2 weeks there, I read the Apple-Daily every day and the gossip magazines every week.
Mostly, I stayed at home, taking care of my mom, other than going to Zhu-dong twice & shopping downtown twice.
Forgive me for not telling you about this going back because the main reason for this quick trip was family stuff.
Besides, I'm going back AGAIN in the mid of July and stay there for another month.
So...
School starts tomorrow & my classes are on TUEs & THURs.
I'm staying in my place alone because the other roommates are away.
Unfortunately, I don't have Internet right now, so I have to come to school to use the computer in the library.
Later on, I'll post more about this trip, if possible.
For now...I wish all of you a fruitful SUMMER & see you guys later.

舊金山有沒有這麼熱?!
熱到乳霜狀的保養品都快變成液狀的...
簡直跟在台灣的夏天沒有兩樣!!!
天氣實在是最...最讓人詬病的地方...
前一天可以刮風穿大衣.今天就可以艷陽高照熱到全身發黏
我開始慶幸沒有受到USD 5,000獎學金的誘惑跑到仙人掌比人還高的Arizona去
(不過受到budget cut的影響學費要漲10%.各式獎學金我也沒申請...這樣一想想那筆錢還真的蠻大筆的)
總而言之.我回台灣去一定要吃很多很多的刨冰!!!

後記...
剛剛心血來潮想說去查一下究竟有多熱.覺得被騙了!
因為明明已經熱到快中暑昏死了.結果網頁上竟然顯示78 °F / 25 °C
而且還給我發現這個...

cooler location for the day if no air conditioning is available.
It is very important that friends or relatives check frequently on those who might be prone to heat sensitivity.
Also... never leave children... elderly or pets unattended in enclosed vehicles... even for a short time. Temperatures quickly rise to life-threatening levels even when the windows are partially opened.
只能說...一切真是太誇張了!!!...

  • CAFFEINISM

早上在McDonald's喝的那杯Vanilla Iced Coffee在胃裡翻騰起來
一股腦地湧上
我覺得自己快吐了
不知道是因為咖啡因作祟還是太過於震驚
心臟跳動得不像是自己的
雙手也開始微微地顫抖
發現祕密總是這樣地令人難受
讓我不禁想問
在過去的那段日子裡
你究竟是怎麼對我的?!

I didn't wake up as early as I had expected.
Still, I made it to McDonald's and had an AWESOME breakfast there.
(I was so full that I had to skip my lunch!)
Then I took samTrans 122 to Serramonte Shopping Center.
I bought some stuff @ Target & I shopped around for a while!
Such a wonderful Saturday!
I'm ENJOYing my life here!
